Admissions
What do I need before I apply?
Undergraduate applicants must have graduated high school or completed the GED and earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on any college-level course work. Graduate applicants must submit an official transcript indicating completion of at least a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited, degree-granting university or college. Do I need to take the SAT, ACT, MAT or GMAT to be admitted to UMUC?
UMUC does not require that you submit official test scores. See all admission requirements.
How much is the application fee?
Application fees differ per student, per degree level. In general, the undergraduate and graduate application fees are $50 and the doctoral program application fee is $100.
Can I transfer my credits?
UMUC accepts credits from regionally accredited colleges and universities. Transfer up to 90 credits from a four-year university or 70 credits from a two-year university. You can also earn your associate's degree while you start earning credits toward a UMUC bachelor's degree. Research the transfer credit process.
When can I start?
Classes are enrolling now. While there are three semesters per year—fall, spring and summer—each semester has multiple sessions and start dates from which to choose. Select the start date that's most convenient for you. Find the next session date.

What programs do you offer?
UMUC offers a wide variety of bachelor's and master's degree programs, plus two doctoral degrees. Select a program in business and management, information technology, teaching and education, criminal justice, homeland security or one of many other areas of study.

Can I earn a double undergraduate major or minor?
UMUC encourages you to pursue the academic areas which interest you. To help you do so, UMUC offers students the chance to double major or minor, as well as take electives. View a full list of undergraduate double majors and minors.
Can I earn a dual master's degree?
You may choose to enroll in the dual degree program at UMUC, whereby you earn two master's degrees with just 18 additional credits. Learn more about UMUC's dual degree programs.

Who is eligible for financial aid?
UMUC encourages you to apply for financial aid, whether it is in the form of scholarships or federal aid money. UMUC's Financial Aid Office is here for you as a resource throughout the financial aid process. Research the types of aid available.
How does a student apply for the FAFSA?
The only way to apply for the FAFSA is through the FAFSA Web site, or by applying with the traditional paper application, which is available for download on the FAFSA Web site.
Does UMUC offer scholarships?
UMUC offers a variety of merit- and need-based scholarships to qualified students at the undergraduate or graduate levels. Military servicemembers and spouses and veterans are also eligible for scholarships. The Financial Aid Office recommends you complete the UMUC Scholarship Application in order to qualify for financial awards.
