Guidelines for Using UMUC E-mail vs. Private Messaging

Beginning Summer 2010, all Adelphi faculty members will be expected to use their campus e-mail address in on-site and online classes. Instructors may also use WebTycho's private messaging feature to communicate with students.

Private messaging works a lot like e-mail, but eliminates the need to use a separate e-mail account to write to one or more students enrolled in a course. It is recommended for confidential communication with students or general questions about assignments.

You should use your UMUC e-mail for business-related communications with academic and administrative personnel, or to convey general information to students. For more information, please refer to UMUC Adjunct Faculty E-mail vs. WebTycho Private Messaging.
