Returning to college can be quite intimidating for those who've been away from the rigors of academic life. Doing it while also being an active-duty service member can be twice as frightening. But doubts and fears did not deter one Navy chief from pressing forward to make his dreams a reality.

Chief Mess Specialist Kavin W. Bobbitt has been attending UMUC for the past 18 months. He recently made the Dean's List; in his last 12 classes, Bobbitt has made all A's with just one B. It's quite an accomplishment for any student, but even more remarkable for someone coping with the increasing operational tempo of the military. Even during all the stress and demands on his time, this 22-year Navy veteran is not about to complain.
